Intelligent contactless switching device with an adaptive control algorithm for distributed generation systems

FULL TEXT:

Abstract

Relevance: in recent years, the development of the energy sector in the Republic of Uzbekistan has involved the large-scale deployment of photovoltaic power plants. However, the operating characteristics of inverter converters—specifically those involving high-frequency interference and voltage fluctuations caused by variable cloud cover—adversely affect the performance of conventional switching equipment. Under such conditions, standard solid-state relays with a fixed reset ratio are prone to self-oscillation (or "chattering"), leading to semiconductor overheating and load malfunctions. Developing "smart" devices capable of adapting to input voltage quality is therefore a pressing challenge.

Aim: to examine the issue of enhancing the reliability of power supply systems based on renewable energy sources (RES). To propose a new configuration for a contactless switching device (CSD) utilizing microprocessor-controlled (ESP32) triac switches.

Methods: a modern component base was selected for the device prototype, combining power semiconductor switches with a microprocessor core based on the Xtensa® Dual-Core architecture (ESP32).

Results: the device under development ensures that the response time of its control system does not exceed 10–20 ms (one mains frequency period). Based on the analysis performed, relevant operating recommendations are presented.
