Optimizing the composition of the components of a photovoltaic solar power plant operating in parallel with the electric power system
Abstract
Relevance: The rapid growth in electricity consumption across all areas of modern human activity, the limited reserves of hydrocarbon fuels, and the growing urgency of environmental problems in the energy sector necessitate the development and implementation of more efficient methods for the construction and operation of power plants based on renewable energy resources, particularly solar energy. Currently, despite the existence of various approaches to determining the optimal component configuration when designing systems based on such stations, the need to refine the underlying models and algorithms remains pressing. Existing methods rely primarily on optimization models that yield approximate results and fail to precisely account for limiting factors, thereby preventing the achievement of a truly optimal outcome. Consequently, developing optimization models and algorithms that overcome these shortcomings remains a relevant task.Aim: Refinement of the mathematical model and solution algorithm for selecting the optimal configuration of major equipment when designing systems based on solar photovoltaic plants operating in parallel with the electric power grid. Methods: Optimization modeling methods are employed, alongside a comparative analysis of experience in designing systems based on renewable energy sources. Results: This paper presents an improved mathematical model and a corresponding algorithm for optimizing the equipment configuration of systems based on solar photovoltaic power plants operating in parallel with the electric power system.
