Improving the methodology for functional modeling and performance evaluation of ISO 50001 based energy management systems in metallurgical enterprises
Abstract
Relevance: the rational use of energy resources, effective energy consumption management, and improvement of energy efficiency have become key priorities for metallurgical enterprises. The high energy intensity of production processes and the complexity of energy-related operations require a systematic and structured approach to energy management. Therefore, functional modeling of energy management processes in accordance with the requirements of the ISO 50001 standard, identification of their interrelationships, and comprehensive performance assessment are of particular importance. This paper proposes a functional model of energy management processes based on the IDEF0 methodology and a step-by-step methodology for evaluating system performance using Energy Performance Indicators (EnPI) and Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
Aim: improvement of the methodology for identifying functional interrelationships among energy management processes at metallurgical enterprises and evaluating their effectiveness based on EnPI and KPI indicators.
Methods: The study employs IDEF0 and BPMN functional modeling methods together with systems analysis and performance assessment techniques.
Results: a functional model of energy management processes was developed, and a sequential methodology for evaluating EnPI and KPI indicators was proposed. The proposed approach enables the identification of relationships between energy performance and management processes and provides a comprehensive assessment of the overall effectiveness of the energy management system.
