Analysis of the multifactor characteristics of corona losses and substantiation of the regularities of their reduction
Abstract
Rеlеvаncе: In recent years, the increasing share of renewable energy sources in power systems worldwide, the digitalization and intelligent transformation of electrical networks, improvements in energy efficiency, and the reduction of technological losses in electric power transmission have become key development priorities. These processes are also increasing the requirements for the reliability and efficiency of high-voltage transmission networks within the power system of Uzbekistan. Under such conditions, corona discharge occurring on 220–500 kV overhead transmission lines results in additional active power and energy losses, electromagnetic interference, and deterioration of the operational performance of transmission lines. The magnitude of corona losses depends on the combined influence of numerous interrelated factors, including operating voltage, conductor geometry, electric field intensity, air temperature and humidity, atmospheric pressure, precipitation, dust contamination, and the condition of the conductor surface. Therefore, a comprehensive assessment of corona losses that accounts for the combined effects of these factors, identification of their multifactorial formation patterns, and development of scientifically substantiated methods for reducing such losses constitute an important and relevant research task.
Аim: Analysis of the multifactor characteristics of corona losses in high-voltage overhead transmission lines as influenced by electrical, geometric, meteorological, and operational factors, and identification of scientifically substantiated regularities for reducing these losses.
Mеthods: The study employs comparative analysis of electrical, geometric, meteorological, and operational factors affecting corona losses in high-voltage overhead transmission lines, along with experimental observation, computational and analytical modeling, and statistical data processing methods.
Rеsults: The regularities governing the formation of corona losses in high-voltage overhead transmission lines as a function of electrical, geometric, meteorological, and operational factors are identified. Based on multifactor analysis, the factors exerting the greatest influence on corona discharge intensity are determined, their interrelationships are evaluated, and effective technical and operational measures aimed at reducing corona losses are substantiated. Based on the obtained results, relevant scientific and practical recommendations are developed to improve the energy efficiency of high-voltage overhead transmission lines and reduce electrical energy losses associated with corona discharge.
