Energy efficiency analysis of multiphase pumps
Abstract
Relevance: currently, the development of a hydraulic model reflecting the important features of multiphase water flow during interaction with a solid surface is included in priority research to improve methods for increasing the energy efficiency of pumps in irrigation systems.
Aim: obtaining analytical dependencies based on theoretical and experimental studies of the hydrodynamic processes of the flow path of multiphase pumps.
Methods: the study used an analysis of data obtained in the laboratory using mathematical modeling methods, measuring pump flow rates and pressure at the outlet of the flow path, power consumption from the network, and measurements at various degrees of multiphase pumps. Based on the comparison of experimental measurements and theoretical calculations, operational characteristics were refined. Three approaches to the addition of protective substances are being considered for protecting pump foundations.
Results: experimental modeling was used to obtain the characteristics of the multiphase flow in the flow path of the pump, which substantiated the direction of development for improving the energy efficiency and operational stability of the multiphase pump. The distribution characteristics of interphase forces from the impeller inlet to the diffuser outlet were analyzed. Based on this analysis, an integrated platform for flow optimization was developed using an adaptive sparse mesh model. The results show that under the conditions of pumping water with a multiphase pump, the pressure gain and efficiency can be increased by 13.1 kPa and 2.2%, respectively.
